Ornate Conch Shell 5"
A conch shell was one of the eight offerings to the Buddha made upon his enlightenment, which are now called the eight auspicious symbols. The conch was offered as a request for the Buddha to proclaim the truth of Dharma. Conch shells are also often used in Tibetan rituals as sound offerings to delight the deities of the mandala. They are considered symbols of the buddhas' speech, and as such are ideal for offerings on a shrine.
This silver-encased conch is inlaid with turquoise stones.
