Shambu Ruffled Banner

Tibetan aesthetics can be quite specific, especially about colors. The five colors--red, green, blue, yellow, and white--each correspond to one of the 5 main Buddhas. It is said that, when engaging in the highest form of meditation, a practitioner will actually see these five colors. Thus to display them is to help purify the mind.

The Garchen Institute temple proudly displays many of these shambu ruffled banners.
