Guru Yoga Instructions (CD 206)

Guru Yoga is one of the unique methods within Vajrayana Buddhism, whereby the practitioner can literally achieve the same realization as his or her teacher. It is said that through devotion alone can one authentically receive the lama's entire lineage of realization. The tantras say that it is actually better to think of one's teacher for a single moment than to meditate on one hundred thousand deities for ten million kalpas.

The great Longchenpa has said that the path of Guru Yoga "by its very nature alone awakens the realization of the natural state within one and brings liberation. For that reason Guru Yoga is the most profound of all paths."
