Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche (1921-2007)
To all those in Garchen Rinpoche's Mandala,
The Great Drikung Kagyu Yogi Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche
left the guesthouse of his body on December 25th at 10:00
p.m.
He had traveled to Singapore where His Eminence Garchen
Rinpoche, His Eminence Gyabra Tritsab Rinpoche, and many
other monks had gathered.
Drubwang Rinpoche and Garchen Rinpoche had a very special
connection, and when the occasion came in 2000 for the
consecration of the Temple at The Garchen Institute, the
Southwest Buddhafield, many Lamas came but none more amazing
than Drubwang Rinpoche. On June 11, 2000, after having many
"astounding visionary insights," Drubwang Rinpoche spoke
these words of realization::
"An opportunity to be in an environment like this (The
Garchen Institute in Arizona, which Rinpoche refers to as
'Garchen Dharma Center') is as rare as spotting stars in
broad daylight! This is a sacred place. Garchen Dharma
Center is a sacred center. His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche is
truly a living Bodhisattva. He is one of the heart sons of
Kyobpa Jigten Sumgon. I thank this wonderful Lama who
facilitated me attaining liberation from samsara.
"The first very significant visionary insight I had was when
I saw two white 'Mahayana Bells.' These two symbolized my
actualization of Mahamudra and the Great Perfection. You all
have the same opportunity of attaining similar realization.
Accumulate merits and purify your obscurations. Every stage
of your rebirth, you should climb higher and higher up the
ladder of realization. Then finally reach enlightenment! You
should climb higher and higher. Generate loving kindness and
compassion. Recite the mani (OM MANI PADME HUM)!"
Because of this special connection of Drubwang Rinpoche to
Garchen Rinpoche and to the Southwest Buddhafield, we should
all take to heart Drubwang Rinpoche's precious instructions
from the 'other side' and practice joyously with confidence
and gratitude.
With love to all of you,
